Recoil wire thread inserts provide positive locking performance and extra-long thread life, even in vibration-intensive environments. Lightweight and strong, Recoil inserts deliver superior holding power, improved flank contact, equal load distribution over all tapped threads, and greater load-bearing capabilities.
The high-quality materials used in these inserts provide long, reliable life in a wide range of applications. Recoil inserts help you to reduce manufacturing costs by allowing the use of lighter original materials (aluminum and magnesium casts), while still maintaining thread strength.
Common Applications Recoil threaded inserts can be used for a variety of applications, including automotive, aerospace systems, electronics, transportation products, medical instrumentation and equipment, power generation, telecommunications, military hardware and a wide variety of manufacturing equipment.
How Wire Thread Inserts Work
A wire thread insert has a greater diameter than the tapped hole in the parent material. The diameter of the insert is reduced as it installs into the tapped hole, creating coil tension that permanently holds the insert into place.
Stress concentration problems which typically occur in the parent material when using solid inserts are therefore eliminated.
A Recoil insert will dimensionally adjust, both radially and axially, to any expansion or contraction within the parent material.
