Many Huck products are available with optional surface finishes for use in specific applications / conditions. The available finishes will vary by product family / type.

Product Type

Select the fastener type:

1) A LockBolt is a two-piece fastener that consists of a hardened metal pin and a metal collar that swages into the grooves of the pin, forming a specific, measured clamp force to hold assembled parts together.

2) A structural blind rivet is a one-piece fastener made from two assembled components; a pin, and a sleeve which delivers a permanent, vibration-resistant joint in which the pin is retained post-installation for greater strength. Unlike a lockbolt or standard nut and bolt, they can be installed with access to only one side of the material.

3) Installation Tooling is available in 3 power source types: battery, pneumatic and hydraulic. Select this option to filter by the tools themselves, nose assemblies and power rigs (hydraulic).

Diameter

The diameter of a lockbolt or blind rivet measures the nominal dimension of the shank.

Lockbolt and blind rivet diameters can be used interchangeably with standard bolt diameters. Please note the hole size tolerances may vary slightly.

Each fastener family in the Huck range offers unique attributes. It is important to select the fastener which best suits your application. Consult with our engineering team to discuss your specific needs.

Head Style

Head styles are available in a variety of formats under the categories of protruding and countersunk. Protruding head styles, when installed, protrude beyond the material's surface and countersunk head styles, when installed, sit flush with the material surface

Material

This refers to the base material for the pin component.  

For Lockbolts the recommended collar will be made from a similar material with minor material property differences. The coating / plating may vary between pin and collar. 

For structural blind rivets the sleeve material properties and/or coating may vary slightly from the pin.

The standard material for most fastener families is Steel, with variants available in Stainless Steel and Aluminium. However, some fastener types are only available in one material.

Installed Performance

Installed performance data represents the shear, tensile, clamp and/or pin retention values a given fastener will deliver. In most cases, we provide minimum values to ensure the criteria of your application are met.

Typical Installed Performance

For most fasteners we do not offer typical performance values. We prefer to share minimum values in order to help you safely design your applications. Many manufacturers will offer typical values in order to present a higher number, please bear this in mind when comparing data across multiple manufacturers.

Hole Diameter

The hole diameter refers to the dimensions of drilled hole into which your fastener will be installed. A Huck fastener should always be installed into a hole within the stated tolerance values.

Material Thickness

This refers to the value of the total material thickness of your application. This should include any/all sheets or components to be fastened, including washers. 

Example: if you are fastening two components with thicknesses of 3mm and 1.5mm respectively, then the value you should enter will be 4.5mm (3+1.5=4.5). 

The grip range value in our catalogue shows the minimum and maximum material thickness (in mm) for that fastener to install and perform correctly. Fasteners should never be used outside of their recommended grip range.

Dimensions

This refers to the key measurements of the rivet, pre-installation.

This refers to the key measurements of the fastener, post-installation.

This refers to the key measurements of the collar, pre-installation.

This refers to the key measurements of the pin, pre-installation.

Grade

The grade of steel represents the composition and physical properties of the material. We offer lockbolts in grade 5.8, 8.8 and 10.9.

Specifications

This section contains basic information for this product. The power source is power method for an installation tool: tool are available in battery, pneumatic (air) or hydraulic (oil) types.
Capacity is the maximum pull force in KN that the tool can generate.
Stroke length is the amount of travel that the pulling mechanism has. This can play a role in tool selection as some fasteners require a longer stroke length than others.

Fastener Type

These are the fastener type that can be installed with this part. Please note you require both a tool and nose assembly (for the correct size) to install a Huck fastener. A lockbolt and blind fastener require specific nose assemblies. In most cases tools will be able to install both lockbolts and blind rivets with the correct nose assemblies.

Fastener Family

These are the fastener families that can be installed with this part. Tools can often be used to install fasteners from multiple families with the right nose assemblies. However, nose assemblies can often only install fasteners from one family. Because blind fasteners are installed in a similar fashion, you may find that a single nose assembly can install fasteners of the same size from multiple families.

Fastener Diameter

This is the diameter(s) of fastener that can be installed with this part. Tools can usually install fasteners in different diameters with the right nose assembly. However, nose assemblies can usually only be used to install a single diameter.

Nose Assemblies

The nose assembly is attached to the installation tool to install the fastener. Each nose assembly is designed to install a single size (diameter), from one or more product families. Use the filter system to select the nose assembly for your chosen fastener.  If you rquire assistance please get in touch.

The L suffix means the nose can be used on tools with a longer piston (tools with suffix L). The CX suffix is a collar cutter to enable the removal of installed fasteners.

Tooling

We offer a range of tools to install our fasteners. The tool you choose will depend on several factors such as the size and type of the fastener, the desired installation speed, and the location of your assembly (factory or field). Use the filters to shorten the list based on the fastener you want to install. 

For this online catalogue each tool part number has a B, P or H suffix to show whether it is Battery (B), Pneumatic (P) or Hydraulic (H).

Powerigs

A powerig is a hydraulic unit that powers our hydraulic installation tool. You do not need a powerig for pneumatic or battery tools. We offer a range of types and sizes of powerig for a wide range of standard and specialist applications. Untick the 'Recommended Tooling Only' box to view our complete range of powerigs. 

Tooling Type

Each tool has a power source; battery, pneumatic (air) or hydraulic (oil). A pneumatic tool requires a direct air connection, whilst a hydraulic tool requires a dedicated powerig.  

Missing Nose Assemblies

If you have received an error message it could be that you have selected a fastener family and diameter combination that does not exist. We always recommend following the set recommendations in the fastener data first.

If you are still receiving an error it is possible we can offer a nose assembly that has not been included in the catalogue. Please get in touch.

Recommended Tooling

Our recommended tools, noses and powerigs are those parts we consider to be the most common for relevant fasteners. For specific applications different tooling may be required: simply un-tick the box to view all parts.
